Do you remember when you were little and your parents would go nuts congratulating you if you did well in something? Things like getting 10 out of 10 on a spelling test, actually hitting the ball in little league or cleaning your room without being asked (too much) were met with ongoing compliments and way to gos. Those were the days right? Just because someone stopped praising you doesn’t mean you don’t deserve it any more. It just means it might fall to you to to give yourself the credit.
To be fair once your a grown up people might not get to know all the little accomplishments you have day to day. After all kids are constantly babbling on about the most minute details of their day. Handling things that make you super anxious, killing it at work or having the weekly meals prepped and laundry done at the same time may very well go noticed by others. That doesn’t mean that it’s not a big deal though! It just means you’re now the one who gets to celebrate those things. Little things like a bubble bath, downloading a few new songs or your favorite adult beverage or treat are all perfectly good ways to celebrate the little things. If you don’t take notice of them others probably won’t either. You should take some time to recognize your successes when ever they happen because that’s a lot of what makes life great.
On that note it’s my birthday this weekend! I will actually be celebrating with friends and family as much as this year allows and staying present in the moment so no post this Sunday. But this weekend you should find a way to take a moment and celebrate something that happened to you this week. You deserve it!
